I looked at the discussion on patching and it is target at Net::DNS version .76  I am running version .78

i still tried patching and I naturally got a Hunk #1 error

Hello Jason,

I'm not certain where you are seeing in the second link to 'update perl, or ignore it'.  An updated module in Perl, Net::DNS is the initial cause of this issue ,not the solution.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, I believe the path to success is applying the patch listed at https://bz.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=7057 or to pull a new SVN version of spamassassain, or to apply a patch listed in the first comment below the blog post on major.io.

Ignoring was not really implied with anything I read...

The first link continued the confusion I have been experiencing

The second essentially tells me to update Perl or ignore the warning

thanks  I will probably go with the ignore for the time being

thanks !! The second link was a winner

A quick google search is your friend.

And the second hit looks recent and promising.

I am getting the following warning in my mail log   I have googled and can’t come to a conclusion whether it is a bug, minor issue or something nasty

Feb 27 09:08:13 tuna amavis[35783]: (35783-11) _WARN: Use of uninitialized value $ns in pattern match (m//) at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.16/Mail/SpamAssassin/DnsResolver.pm line 201.
Feb 27 09:08:13 tuna amavis[35783]: (35783-11) _WARN: rules: failed to run NO_DNS_FOR_FROM RBL test, skipping:\n\t(send: Cannot determine peer address at /usr/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.16/Mail/SpamAssassin

Mail appears to be working  So do I just ignore?? I would prefer to deal with issue if possible

thanks
