Spam Assasin score below 5

ahsan2011
Hi

I am using postfix and running multiple instances. I am using SPF, DKIM and
DMARC. However when I test using mail-tester, it shows a spam assasin score
of -5.2.

Have anyone worked around this problem.

The famous spam filter SpamAssassin. Score: -5.2.
A score below -5 is considered spam.
-0.1 DKIM_SIGNED Message has a DKIM or DK signature, not necessarily valid
This negative score will become positive if the signature is validated. See
immediately below.
0.1 DKIM_VALID Message has at least one valid DKIM or DK signature
Great! Your signature is valid
0.1 DKIM_VALID_AU Message has a valid DKIM or DK signature from author's
domain
Great! Your signature is valid and it's coming from your domain name
-0.805 HTML_IMAGE_RATIO_02 HTML has a low ratio of text to image area
You should write more text in your email or remove some pictures
-0.001 HTML_MESSAGE HTML included in message
No worry, that's expected if you send HTML emails
-0.365 RAZOR2_CF_RANGE_51_100 Razor2 gives confidence level above 50%
cf: 100
-2.43 RAZOR2_CF_RANGE_E8_51_100 Razor2 gives engine 8 confidence level above
50%
-1.729 RAZOR2_CHECK Listed in Razor2 (http://razor.sf.net/)
0.001 SPF_PASS SPF: sender matches SPF record
Great! Your SPF is valid
-0.01 T_KAM_HTML_FONT_INVALID Test for Invalidly Named or Formatted Colors
in HTML
0.01 T_RP_MATCHES_RCVD Envelope sender domain matches handover relay domain

Re: Spam Assasin score below 5

Wilfried.Essig@Essignetz.de
Don't worry. Spamassassin has positiv score for "spaminess". Usually
mail are considered spam, when their score gets higher than +5 or +6. As
i got to know, negative values are always good.

Mail-testers "A score below -5 is considered spam." is wrong for a
common spamassassin. (at least my spamassassins seem not to work like
they say...)

Re: Spam Assasin score below 5

Kevin A. McGrail
Will is correct. The default setting is a positive 5.0 and above is spam. Your scores indicate you have a high amount of hamminess with a negative 5+.

Re: Spam Assasin score below 5

Tom Hendrikx
Hi,

I disagree.

When you look at the included test results, you'll see that the tool
that was used (mail-tester) messes with the scores.

Multiple RAZOR hits is definitely indicating spamminess, not ham. The
RAZOR rules score negative, so a negative score is an indication of spam
with this tool. I didn't check if the scores match actual recent
Spamassassin scores, but they have at least the negative sign flipped.

Your message hits the RAZOR tests, this is not necessarily bad, but
Spamassassin assigns points. Please read more about razor on the URL
listed in the test results.

Note: it's weird to have RAZOR hits on newsletter message that wasn't
sent yet.

Kind regards,

        Tom

Re: Spam Assasin score below 5

Kevin A. McGrail
I must admit there is curious behavior in this analysis but my statement about the default scores remain correct.

I would probably avoid this mail tester implementation.

Thanks guys

My problem is that even though I am passing all checks, my client is not
willing to understand this. This is a brand new IP and emails are going to
spam for him. For me it lands in my inbox. I believe i clicked "not spam in
gmail" and all subsequent emails are in my inbox. For him, the mail-tester
score is very important for this project.

Do you know what are these razor negative score.

Re: Spam Assasin score below 5

Kevin A. McGrail
Email deliverability is very complicated. Overall it sounds like you're using a new IP address and questionable content.
I wouldn't pay attention to much that mail tester. It seems to be messing with the scores.

Overall, what does this have to do with post fix? You should go post on users at spamassassin. Apache. Org.
